Egg Hunt
Thank you to everyone who helped with and donated to our annual Egg Hunt. The children always have a wonderful time at this event!
Summer Camp
It’s hard to believe that it’s already time for Summer Camp sign ups but it’s here! The sign ups for each week will be posted in the hallway. There is limited space in Summer Camp so be sure to sign up and reserve your spot before we open it up to the general public. Miss Judy has some great stuff planned for the summer, the usual favorites like skating, water slides, movies, and some new ones like community businesses and museums.
“Food” for Thought
Tender Years is in partnership with the Utah Child Food Program. Therefore, we take the health and nutrition of all of our children very seriously. Our weekly menus are always posted in front of each classroom for you to review. Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions. Often, parents will send a treat to school for a special occasion which is always welcome and appreciated. We would also like to encourage parents to send non-food items sometimes instead of treats. Some examples are pencils, erasers, stickers, rings, coloring pictures, etc. While at our school, all of our children participate in exercise and gross motor development three times a day every day. If you would like some information on how you can get your kids “moving” more at home please visit the following websites for creative and fun ideas; http://depts.washington.edu/tvhealth/resources_family.htm and http://www.fns.usda.gov/eatsmartplayhardhealthylifestyle/PlayHard/makefamilytimeanactivetime.htm.

Infants, Waddlers, & Toddlers
Finally, beautiful weather! Please adjust your children’s spare clothes to the weather and send them with a labeled jacket for when we go outside and for walks. If we don’t have one, please be sure to send a family picture that we can put on display for your baby. This month our youngest babies are working on self help skills. Our Waddlers and Toddlers are discussing colors and shapes. Don’t forget to take your baby’s blanket home at least once a week to be washed, this is VERY important to cut down on germs. Please check your baby’s extra change of clothes to make sure they have everything they need and that it is weather appropriate. And of course, don’t forget to check our diaper board regularly. Thank you!
2 YEAR OLDS
Miss Nicolle -April 22nd will be our Earth Day celebration. We will be making an edible garden and going on a nature walk! There will be a lot of Spring activities this month too. There are many children without extra clothes in their cubbie. If your child doesn’t have any spare clothes please bring some in ASAP and please make it weather appropriate! We will be going outside very regularly so please make sure your child dresses appropriately with a labeled jacket and sunscreen. Please donate your unwanted child friendly magazines, we need them for art projects! Thank You!
Miss Ruth – April 1st is Crazy Hair Day! This month we will be talking about farms, spring weather, butterflies, nutrition, and families. These themes will give us great opportunities for art and science. Please be sure that your child has a weather appropriate change of clothes in their cubbie and a jacket/coat everyday. Please also check your child’s art folder, they are getting very full. The folders are located on the back wall with their names on them. Please donate any child friendly magazines you have, we would like to make some collages. Thank you for letting me be a part of your child’s life!
3 YEAR OLDS
Miss Erin –
April 25th is Earth Day! Please wear something that can get a little dirty, we will be learning closely about the earth that day. This month we are finishing up our alphabet, working on name recognition, writing our names, and planting seeds on April 22nd. Be sure to review your letters and numbers at home too. Please make sure each night to check your child’s cubbie and be sure that they have everything they need. Please make sure your child has a coat/jacket because we are going outside everyday! Every Friday during our Circle Time at 9:30 we will have Show-and Tell. Please keep toys from home at home. We don’t want children to lose them. Please be sure to check your child’s art folder daily and take home their masterpieces.
PRE – KINDERGARTEN
This month we will have a lot going on for science. We will be celebrating Earth Day, spring, and butterflies. This month we are finishing our work on the alphabet. If you have any old t-shirts you don’t want we would love to use them as paint shirts. We are going to start cutting back on our naps to help prepare these children for Kindergarten. They will only be napping 3 of the 5 days they are here. We will be completely done with naps by July. Thank you for your support and please let me know if I can do anything for you or your child.
KINDERGARTEN
The first week of April is Spring Break. There is a sign up in the hallway for field trips during the week of Apr. 1-5 and Kindergarteners are included. If your child will be attending be sure to sign up. This month we are learning about Spring activities, life cycles of butterflies, families, and nutrition. We will continue our work on subtraction. We are starting to go outside more often so please be sure to dress appropriately and have a labeled jacket/coat. Our school LOVES books and would appreciate any donations of books you no longer want. Happy Birthday Brooklyn on the 5th and Carmen on the 9th. DON’T FORGET TO SIGN UP FOR SUMMER CAMP!!
SCHOOL AGE
DON’T FORGET TO SIGN UP FOR SUMMER CAMP!! The weekly sign up will be posted this month. There is also a sign up in the hallway for field trips during Spring Break which is the first week of April. We have had a couple of children tell us that their parents do not want them to do their homework. It’s hard to know if this is a trick or really how parents feel. Our first action is to have them do their homework so that you can have more time as a family when you all get home. If you have a different preference please inform the teacher so we are on the same page. Please be sure to label ALL your child’s items. We are always taking donations of slightly used books. We are in specific need of any English/Chinese dictionaries or Spanish/English dictionaries. Thank you for your support.
